Working in Indonesia

Indonesia offers hospitality opportunities across Bali, Java, Lombok, Sumatra and other islands, particularly in hotels, resorts, restaurants, events and tourism services. Bali is the most international destination, with a relaxed lifestyle, strong expatriate community and abundant dining and resort jobs, although rents and traffic can be high. Java, including Jakarta and Surabaya, provides broader corporate and city-hotel opportunities. Lombok and other resort islands offer a quieter lifestyle but fewer services and vacancies. Indonesian culture values courtesy, community, family and religious diversity; modest dress and respect for local customs are important. Foreign employees generally need employer sponsorship and an appropriate work permit and stay permit before starting work. Employers usually coordinate immigration paperwork, medical checks and contracts. Candidates should verify housing, insurance, tax, flights and benefits, and allow time for relocation and local registration.
