Working in United Arab Emirates

The United Arab Emirates is not an island but a federation of seven emirates, including Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah. It offers extensive opportunities in hospitality, tourism, engineering, construction, finance, technology and retail, with luxury hotels employing many international workers. The culture combines Islamic traditions, Emirati heritage and a highly global expatriate community. Lifestyle is modern and convenient, with excellent infrastructure, shopping, dining and beaches, although summers are extremely hot. UAE Nationals usually receive priority in nationalisation programmes such as Emiratisation, while expatriates generally need employer-sponsored residence and work visas. Employers commonly arrange medical checks, Emirates ID processing and sometimes accommodation or transport. Candidates relocating should review contract terms, healthcare, housing costs and probation conditions. English is widely used in workplaces, while Arabic is the official language.
