The Hygiene & Sanitation Executive is responsible for maintaining high standards of food hygiene, personal cleanliness, sanitation and workplace safety across the hotel. Requirements typically include relevant hospitality, food safety or environmental health experience, HACCP knowledge, strong attention to detail and familiarity with Singapore food-safety regulations. The candidate is expected to conduct inspections and audits, monitor cleaning and sanitation procedures, support staff training, maintain accurate records, investigate hygiene concerns and recommend corrective actions. Good communication skills, confidence working with multiple departments and the ability to uphold standards in a busy hotel environment are essential. A recognized food-safety qualification and experience in a luxury hotel, restaurant or catering operation would be advantageous.
Shangri-La is a leading luxury hospitality group founded in Hong Kong, operating hotels, resorts and residences across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other international markets. The group is known for warm Asian hospitality, high service standards and premium guest experiences. Shangri-La Singapore is an established luxury city resort set among landscaped gardens near Orchard Road, offering guest rooms, suites, restaurants, event facilities, wellness services and extensive conference spaces. The hotel serves leisure travellers, corporate guests, families and large international events. Employees generally work in a structured, multicultural environment where service excellence, food safety, cleanliness, sustainability and professional development are strongly emphasized. A Hygiene & Sanitation Executive supports the hotel’s operational standards by helping protect guests, employees and the business through consistent hygiene controls and regulatory compliance.
Singapore is a compact, safe and highly connected city-state with strong opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, healthcare, finance, technology and logistics. Hospitality roles are concentrated around Orchard Road, Marina Bay, Sentosa, Changi and the central business district. The culture is multicultural, orderly and professional, with English widely used at work alongside Mandarin, Malay and Tamil. Life is convenient, but rent and dining in central areas can be expensive; public transport is excellent and healthcare is high quality. Foreign professionals generally need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass or S Pass, and eligibility depends on salary, qualifications and Ministry of Manpower requirements. Employers commonly explain the application process and may assist with relocation, although housing is not always provided. New arrivals should budget for accommodation, deposits, transport, insurance and daily expenses. Singapore’s tropical climate is hot and humid year-round, with frequent rainfall.
