Working in United Arab Emirates

The United Arab Emirates is not an island but a federation of seven emirates, including Dubai and Abu Dhabi, with extensive coastlines and resort destinations. Hospitality, tourism, events, retail, aviation and luxury services provide many employment opportunities, particularly for people with technical, customer-service or multilingual skills. The culture combines Islamic traditions with a highly international population; respectful dress and behaviour are expected, especially during religious occasions. Life is modern and convenient, although summer temperatures are extremely high and accommodation costs can be significant. Employees normally require an employer-sponsored work visa, residence permit, medical examination and Emirates ID. Employers often assist with these arrangements. Before relocating, confirm salary, accommodation, transport, insurance, working hours, probation terms and airfare in writing. A valid passport and attested qualifications may also be required.
