The Security Officer helps protect guests, employees, hotel property and facilities at Shangri-La in Hong Kong. Typical requirements include relevant security experience, a valid Hong Kong Security Personnel Permit, good physical fitness, basic incident-reporting skills and the ability to communicate in English and possibly Cantonese or Mandarin. The successful candidate is expected to monitor CCTV and access points, patrol the property, respond calmly to emergencies, support fire and life-safety procedures, investigate incidents and provide professional guest assistance. Shift work, including nights, weekends and public holidays, is normally required. Hospitality experience and knowledge of local security procedures are advantageous.
Shangri-La Group is a luxury hospitality company founded in Hong Kong and known for its hotels, resorts and residences across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other international markets. Its portfolio includes the Shangri-La, Kerry, JEN and Traders brands. The company focuses on personalised service, comfortable accommodation, dining, wellness and memorable guest experiences. Shangri-La hotels commonly provide structured operating procedures, international service standards and opportunities for employees to develop careers in hospitality. In Hong Kong, the group operates well-known luxury properties and serves business travellers, leisure guests, families and major events. Employees typically work in a multicultural environment where professionalism, discretion, teamwork and attention to detail are highly valued.
Hong Kong Island and the wider Hong Kong region offer strong opportunities in hotels, restaurants, retail, finance, technology, logistics, education and tourism. The culture blends Chinese traditions with international influences; Cantonese is widely spoken, while English is common in business and hospitality. Life is energetic and convenient, with excellent public transport, dense urban neighbourhoods, hiking trails, beaches and extensive dining options. Housing can be expensive, especially near central districts, so many workers consider shared accommodation or areas connected by the MTR. Overseas employees generally need an employment visa sponsored by their employer, and applications usually require a confirmed job, qualifications and proof that the role cannot readily be filled locally. A valid work visa must be obtained before starting employment. Healthcare is high quality, and newcomers should budget carefully for rent, deposits, transport and daily expenses.
