Working in Malaysia

Malaysia offers hospitality opportunities in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Kota Kinabalu, Johor and resort islands along the east and west coasts. Housekeeping work is commonly available in hotels, beach resorts, serviced apartments and tourism facilities, with better prospects for candidates who have hotel experience and English-language skills. Malaysian culture is multicultural, combining Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous influences, with diverse food, festivals and languages. Lifestyle costs are generally moderate, although resort islands and major cities can be more expensive. Foreign workers normally need an employer-sponsored work permit or Employment Pass, and must not begin work before approval. Employers may assist with immigration, accommodation and relocation, but conditions vary. Candidates should verify salary, service charge, housing, transport, medical coverage and contract terms before accepting an offer.
