About the employer

Shangri-La is a luxury hospitality group founded in Asia and recognised for its hotels, resorts and residences across the world. The company operates properties in major cities and leisure destinations, offering accommodation, dining, meetings, wellness and guest-experience services. Shangri-La places strong emphasis on Asian hospitality, personalised service, colleague development and responsible business practices. Its Indonesian operations have included luxury hotels and resorts serving both international and domestic travellers. Human Resources teams generally support recruitment, employee engagement, training, compliance, welfare and the delivery of Shangri-La’s service standards. Benefits at individual properties vary, but hospitality employees may receive meals, uniforms, medical coverage, service charge participation, staff accommodation or transport, and discounted stays, depending on the location and employment contract.

Working in Indonesia

Indonesia offers varied opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, tourism, wellness, aviation, technology and education. Bali is the most international island for hospitality work, while Java, Lombok, Batam and parts of Sulawesi also offer growing tourism and business opportunities. The culture is diverse, community-oriented and generally respectful of hierarchy; modest dress and awareness of local religious customs are important. Lifestyle ranges from busy urban living in Jakarta to slower beach or resort communities, with relatively affordable food and transport but higher costs in popular tourist areas. Foreign nationals need an employer-sponsored work permit and appropriate KITAS or work visa before starting employment; working on a tourist visa is not permitted. Candidates should confirm salary, accommodation, tax, insurance, relocation support and the exact work location with Shangri-La before accepting an offer.
