The Steam Press Operator is responsible for pressing, finishing and presenting guest and hotel laundry to Shangri-La standards. Duties typically include operating steam presses safely, checking garments for stains or damage, folding and hanging items correctly, handling fabrics according to care instructions, maintaining equipment cleanliness, and meeting daily production and quality targets. Candidates should have laundry, garment-pressing or hotel housekeeping experience, good hand-eye coordination, attention to detail and physical stamina. Knowledge of fabric care and safe steam-equipment operation is advantageous. The successful candidate is expected to be reliable, well-groomed, service-minded and able to work shifts, weekends and public holidays in a fast-paced hotel environment.
Shangri-La is a luxury hospitality group founded in Hong Kong and known for its hotels, resorts and residences across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other international destinations. Its properties are recognised for warm Asian hospitality, high service standards, comfortable accommodation, distinctive dining and comprehensive guest facilities. The group employs people across hotel operations, including housekeeping, food and beverage, engineering, finance, front office and guest services. Shangri-La generally places strong emphasis on professionalism, teamwork, courtesy and attention to detail. Employees may receive structured training, staff benefits and opportunities to develop within the wider hotel group, depending on the property and employment terms. The Hong Kong operation offers experience in a multicultural luxury-hotel setting with demanding but valuable exposure to international guests and service practices.
Hong Kong offers varied opportunities in hotels, restaurants, retail, finance, technology, logistics and professional services. Hospitality roles are concentrated in Hong Kong Island, Kowloon, Lantau and the New Territories, with strong demand for staff who can provide reliable service and speak English, Cantonese or Mandarin. The culture is energetic, efficient and multicultural, combining Chinese traditions with international influences. Life is convenient, with excellent public transport, busy shopping districts, hiking trails, beaches and diverse food. Rent can be high, especially in central areas, so many workers share accommodation or live in the New Territories and commute. Foreign workers normally need an approved employment visa before starting work; the employer usually supports the application, and the role must meet immigration requirements. Bring verified qualifications and employment records, check contract benefits carefully, and budget for deposits, transport and initial living costs.
