The Assistant Vice President will lead Shangri-La’s rewards and benefits strategy in Hong Kong, covering compensation, incentives, benefits governance, benchmarking, policy development and related HR projects. Candidates should have substantial experience in compensation and benefits, preferably within a large hospitality, retail, or multinational organisation, together with strong knowledge of Hong Kong employment practices and market data. The role requires analytical ability, commercial judgement, confidentiality, and excellent stakeholder-management skills. The successful candidate is expected to advise senior leaders, manage complex projects, ensure internal equity and market competitiveness, and communicate reward programmes clearly across the organisation. Strong English communication skills, advanced spreadsheet and data-analysis capability, and relevant university or professional qualifications are likely to be expected.
Shangri-La Group is a Hong Kong-founded luxury hospitality company operating hotels, resorts, residences, and related businesses across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America, and other international markets. The group is recognised for its Asian-inspired approach to hospitality, personalised service, premium accommodation, dining, wellness, and extensive meeting and event facilities. Its portfolio includes the Shangri-La, Kerry, JEN, and Traders brands, serving leisure travellers, corporate guests, and long-stay residents. Shangri-La places strong emphasis on service culture, employee development, operational excellence, and sustainable business practices. A corporate Human Resources role with the group typically supports a large, diverse workforce and works closely with senior management, hotel leadership, and regional teams on policies, talent, compensation, and employee experience.
Hong Kong is a dynamic coastal city and a major centre for finance, trade, tourism, aviation, and professional services. Job opportunities are especially strong in hospitality, banking, technology, retail, healthcare, education, and logistics, although competition is high and Cantonese can be valuable for many local-facing roles. The culture blends Chinese traditions with international influences, offering excellent dining, efficient public transport, vibrant neighbourhoods, hiking trails, beaches, and a fast-paced urban lifestyle. Most overseas professionals need an employment visa sponsored by a Hong Kong employer; applicants generally need a confirmed job, suitable qualifications or experience, and proof that the role cannot easily be filled locally. Employers often assist with the application and relocation, while housing is typically expensive. New arrivals should budget for rent, deposits, healthcare, transport, and schooling where relevant.
