This role delivers practical training for warehouse operations and material-handling equipment (MHE), helping colleagues work safely, efficiently and consistently during night shifts. Candidates are generally expected to have strong warehouse or logistics experience, practical knowledge of MHE such as forklifts or powered equipment, and relevant training or instructor qualifications. Experience in a regulated distribution environment is advantageous. The successful candidate should communicate clearly, coach people patiently, maintain accurate training records and support new starters and existing employees. A strong focus on health and safety, attention to detail, reliability and flexibility for night work are essential. The role may require or support recognised MHE instructor certification and compliance with DHL and customer operating procedures.
DHL is a global logistics and supply chain company operating across more than 220 countries and territories. Its businesses cover parcel delivery, freight forwarding, warehousing, contract logistics, e-commerce fulfilment and specialist transport services. In the United Kingdom, DHL supports major retailers, manufacturers, healthcare organisations and technology companies through a large network of warehouses, depots, transport operations and delivery hubs. The company employs people in operational, technical, customer service, commercial and management roles. DHL places strong emphasis on safety, service quality, compliance, inclusion and continuous improvement. An Operational/MHE Trainer supports these priorities by helping colleagues develop the skills needed to use equipment safely, follow standard processes and meet customer and site performance requirements.
The United Kingdom offers substantial employment opportunities in logistics, warehousing, transport, manufacturing, technology, healthcare and professional services. Major logistics centres include the Midlands, London and the South East, Manchester, Yorkshire, Bristol and Scotland. Workplace culture is generally professional, punctual and safety-conscious, with clear employment rights and structured training. Night-shift roles can provide enhanced pay, but transport and family routines should be considered. Living costs vary considerably; London and the South East are usually the most expensive, while many Midlands and northern locations are more affordable. Applicants need the legal right to work in the UK. A Skilled Worker visa is only possible where the occupation, salary and employer meet current Home Office requirements, and warehouse training roles may not automatically qualify. Check DHL's sponsorship status and the latest rules before relocating. Public transport is strongest in major cities; a driving licence may be useful for distribution sites.
