Qantas Airways Limited is Australia’s national airline and one of the country’s best-known aviation companies. Founded in 1920, the Qantas Group operates domestic and international passenger services, freight operations and related travel businesses through brands including Qantas and Jetstar. Its network connects Australia with major cities across Asia, Europe, North America, New Zealand and the Pacific, supported by extensive airport, engineering, loyalty and digital operations. Qantas is investing in technology, fleet renewal, customer experience and operational efficiency, creating opportunities for specialists in artificial intelligence, cloud engineering, data, cybersecurity and software development. The company’s headquarters are in Sydney, with employees working across Australia and overseas. Candidates generally join a safety-focused organisation that values collaboration, inclusion, customer service and innovation, while working in an environment shaped by the complex requirements of a large airline.
Australia offers strong opportunities in technology, aviation, engineering, healthcare, construction, education, mining and professional services. Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide are major employment centres, while Canberra has particularly strong public-sector and technology roles. Australian workplace culture is generally practical, direct and collaborative, with emphasis on safety, inclusion and work-life balance. Lifestyle varies from busy city living to coastal, regional and outdoor communities; beaches, national parks and sport are central to everyday life. Housing and transport costs can be high in Sydney and Melbourne, so researching suburbs and salary expectations is important. Skilled professionals may explore employer-sponsored visas, the Skilled Independent visa, state-nominated pathways or temporary skilled options, depending on occupation, qualifications and experience. Relocation usually involves skills assessment, English-language evidence, health and character checks, tax registration, banking and private health planning. Visa rules change, so applicants should confirm requirements through Australia’s Department of Home Affairs.
