Founded in 1920, the Qantas Group provides domestic and international passenger services, freight, loyalty programs and supporting aviation businesses through brands including Qantas and Jetstar. Its network connects Australian cities with destinations across Asia, Europe, North America, New Zealand and the Pacific. The company employs a large workforce across flight operations, engineering, airport services, customer experience, technology and corporate functions. Qantas is focused on safety, operational reliability, customer service and fleet and digital transformation. Working there can offer exposure to complex aviation operations, major technology programs and a recognisable Australian brand, although roles may involve extensive stakeholder coordination and change across a highly regulated environment.
Australia offers opportunities in aviation, logistics, technology, engineering, healthcare, construction, education, tourism and professional services. Major employment centres include Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide, with different industries and living costs in each city. Australian workplace culture is generally practical, direct, collaborative and respectful of work-life balance. Lifestyle choices range from busy urban living to beaches, outdoor sports, regional communities and relaxed coastal towns. Housing and childcare can be expensive in major cities, while regional areas may offer lower costs and additional migration opportunities. Skilled workers usually need an appropriate visa, such as an employer-sponsored Skills in Demand visa, a skilled independent or state-nominated visa, or another eligible work pathway. Requirements vary by occupation, qualifications, English ability, health and character. Check current Department of Home Affairs rules and confirm employer sponsorship before relocating.
