Sri Lanka offers opportunities in apparel and textiles, tourism, information technology, engineering, logistics, finance, healthcare, and business services. The island has a warm tropical climate, diverse landscapes, strong food and cultural traditions, and a generally sociable lifestyle. Colombo is the main commercial centre and offers the widest range of professional jobs, international schools, healthcare, housing, and transport. Kandy, Galle, and other cities provide a quieter lifestyle, while manufacturing employment is also available near industrial zones. Foreign employees generally need an employer-sponsored work or residence visa and should confirm current requirements with Sri Lankan immigration authorities before relocating. Employment contracts, qualifications, medical checks, and police-clearance documents may be required. Living costs vary considerably by location and housing choice. Learning local customs, respecting religious sites, and understanding workplace etiquette will help newcomers settle successfully.
