Sri Lanka offers opportunities in apparel manufacturing, supply chain, IT, engineering, finance, tourism, logistics, and business services. Colombo and nearby industrial areas provide the broadest range of professional jobs, while regional cities offer opportunities in manufacturing, hospitality, agriculture, and services. The culture blends Sinhala, Tamil, Muslim, and colonial influences, with strong traditions of family, hospitality, religion, and festivals. Lifestyle costs are generally lower than in many international business centres, although Colombo housing and imported goods can be expensive. The island offers beaches, mountains, wildlife, and historic cities, with warm tropical weather. Foreign nationals normally need an appropriate employment visa or residence approval arranged with employer support; tourists cannot legally work. Relocating employees should confirm sponsorship, qualifications, accommodation, healthcare, transport, and tax requirements before arrival.
