About the employer

Healthcare New Zealand is a nationwide provider of health, disability, rehabilitation and community support services. It works with individuals, families, government agencies, clinical teams and local communities to help people live safely and independently, often in their own homes or community settings. Its services may include home support, mental health and wellbeing assistance, disability services, rehabilitation, aged care and specialist reintegration programmes. The organisation places emphasis on person-centred practice, respect, inclusion, cultural responsiveness and practical outcomes. Employees commonly work as part of multidisciplinary and community-based teams, supporting people with varied and sometimes complex needs. As a large healthcare employer, it offers opportunities across urban and regional New Zealand, although specific services, benefits and employment conditions depend on the business unit and collective or individual employment agreement.

Working in New Zealand

New Zealand consists mainly of the North and South Islands, with smaller islands and remote communities. Job opportunities are strongest in healthcare, aged care, disability support, mental health, construction, education, technology, tourism and agriculture. Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch offer larger employment markets, while regional areas often have shortages in health and support roles. New Zealand culture is generally informal, friendly and multicultural, with strong Māori and Pasifika influences; learning about tikanga Māori and Treaty of Waitangi principles is valuable. Lifestyle includes excellent beaches, mountains, outdoor recreation and a relatively relaxed pace, although housing can be expensive in major cities. Skilled workers may qualify for an Accredited Employer Work Visa, while residence pathways depend on occupation, qualifications, registration and employer accreditation. Check Immigration New Zealand for current rules, arrange professional registration where required, and budget for housing, transport and healthcare before relocating.
