The Experienced Support Worker provides practical, personal and emotional support to people in their homes and communities across West Auckland. The role may include assisting with daily routines, personal care, medication support, household tasks, transport and participation in community activities. Candidates should have relevant support work or caregiving experience, good communication skills, reliability and a respectful, person-centred approach. A New Zealand driver licence, legal work rights, satisfactory reference and police checks are generally required. A health and wellbeing qualification is desirable, although equivalent experience may be accepted. The successful candidate must be comfortable working independently, following care plans, maintaining professional boundaries and working flexible shifts, including weekends or evenings.
Healthcare New Zealand is a major provider of community-based health, disability and home-support services throughout New Zealand. The organisation works with older people, people living with disabilities, individuals receiving mental health support and others who need assistance to live safely and independently. Its support workers deliver practical help and companionship in clients’ homes and local communities, working alongside families, nurses, coordinators and other professionals. The company promotes person-centred care, dignity, inclusion and independence, with services tailored to each client’s needs and goals. Roles are available across urban and regional locations and commonly offer structured training, supervision and opportunities to gain recognised health and wellbeing qualifications. Employees are expected to demonstrate empathy, reliability, cultural awareness and a strong commitment to safe, respectful support.
New Zealand offers employment opportunities in healthcare, aged care, disability support, construction, agriculture, technology, education and hospitality. Auckland and the North Island generally have more vacancies and larger migrant communities, while the South Island is known for tourism, agriculture, healthcare and engineering opportunities. New Zealand culture values friendliness, work-life balance, fairness, practical communication and respect for Māori heritage and tikanga. Lifestyle benefits include clean beaches, mountains, outdoor recreation and relatively safe communities, although housing and living costs can be high in Auckland and other major centres. Overseas workers usually need an appropriate visa, such as an Accredited Employer Work Visa, and must meet job, health, character and English requirements where applicable. Candidates should confirm that the employer is accredited and check Immigration New Zealand rules before accepting an offer. Plan for accommodation, transport, tax registration and health insurance before relocating.
