About the employer

Le Méridien Maldives Resort & Spa is a contemporary luxury resort operated under Le Méridien, a Marriott International hotel brand known for European-inspired design, art, culture and thoughtful hospitality. Located on Thilamaafushi Island in Lhaviyani Atoll, the resort offers villas, restaurants, wellness facilities, water activities and curated experiences in a secluded tropical setting. As part of Marriott International, the property follows established global standards for guest service, financial control, sustainability, training and employee development. Resort employees commonly work in a multicultural environment and collaborate across departments, including finance, food and beverage, purchasing, rooms and operations. Benefits for overseas employees may include staff accommodation, meals, transportation arrangements, medical support, annual leave and service charge, depending on the employment contract and local policy.

Working in Maldives

Maldives resort islands offer opportunities in hospitality, finance, accounting, food and beverage, housekeeping, engineering, diving, wellness, sales and guest services. The work environment is international, structured and service-focused, with employees often living on the resort for the duration of their contract. Daily life is relaxed but can be demanding, with limited shopping and entertainment compared with Malé. Maldivian culture is welcoming and strongly influenced by Islam, so modest dress and respect for local customs are important, especially when visiting inhabited islands. Employers generally arrange a work permit and employment approval; foreign workers should not begin work until the proper authorization is issued. Contracts commonly include accommodation and meals, while flights, medical coverage, leave and service charge vary. Candidates should confirm salary, working hours, probation, benefits, permit costs and repatriation terms before relocating. Travel between islands is usually by speedboat or seaplane.
