Malaysia is not limited to islands; this role is based in Kuala Lumpur on the mainland, while popular island destinations include Langkawi, Penang, Tioman and the Perhentian Islands. Hospitality opportunities are widely available in hotels, resorts, restaurants, catering companies and tourism businesses, especially in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi and Sabah. Malaysian culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and Indigenous influences, and English is commonly used in hotels. Kuala Lumpur offers modern city living, public transport, varied food and generally lower costs than many major international cities. Employees normally need an employment pass or other work authorization arranged and sponsored by the employer before starting work; requirements depend on nationality, salary and position. Relocating candidates should budget for accommodation deposits, medical checks, transport and initial living expenses. Island resorts may offer staff housing, meals and different work schedules.
