Working in Indonesia

Bali offers strong opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, bars, wellness, tourism, events and creative industries, especially in Seminyak, Canggu, Ubud, Nusa Dua and Sanur. The island is known for its Hindu culture, temple ceremonies, traditional dance, crafts and welcoming community, while daily life combines beach activities, cafés, nightlife and a generally relaxed pace. Living costs vary significantly; popular expatriate areas can be expensive, particularly for accommodation. Reliable transport is important, and many residents use scooters, although traffic and road safety require care. Foreign nationals must have an appropriate work permit and stay visa arranged through an employer or authorized sponsor; working on a tourist visa is not legal. Employers may assist with sponsorship, documentation and relocation, but candidates should verify current Indonesian immigration rules before accepting an offer. Healthcare, housing and insurance should also be arranged in advance.
