Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provides acute hospital services across Gloucestershire through Gloucestershire Royal Hospital in Gloucester and Cheltenham General Hospital, together with community and specialist services. The Trust supports a large local population and employs a diverse workforce of nurses, doctors, allied health professionals, scientists, administrative colleagues and support staff. Its services cover emergency care, surgery, medicine, maternity, cancer care, diagnostics and specialist treatment. The organisation aims to deliver safe, effective and compassionate care while improving patient experience and reducing health inequalities. Staff are generally supported through NHS pension and wellbeing arrangements, professional development opportunities, annual leave and access to nationally agreed terms and conditions. Working for the Trust offers experience in a busy, collaborative healthcare environment serving both urban communities and the wider county.
The United Kingdom offers extensive opportunities for registered nurses and operating department practitioners, particularly within the NHS, private hospitals and specialist clinics. Employers normally require professional registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council or Health and Care Professions Council, depending on the role, and overseas applicants may need an approved qualification assessment, English-language evidence and registration examinations. Eligible NHS roles can often qualify for the Health and Care Worker visa, allowing the employee and eligible dependants to live and work in the UK. Gloucestershire provides a balance of historic towns, countryside and access to Bristol, Birmingham and London, although housing and transport costs vary considerably. British workplace culture values punctuality, teamwork, respectful communication and professional accountability. The lifestyle includes strong public services, diverse communities, outdoor activities and convenient travel across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
