Working in Thailand

Phuket is Thailand’s best-known island destination and offers strong employment opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, tourism, wellness, marine activities, sales and digital marketing. The culture blends Thai traditions, Buddhist values, local seafood communities and an international hospitality scene. Lifestyle options range from lively beaches and nightlife to quieter areas, markets, temples, viewpoints and nearby islands. English is widely used in tourism, although learning basic Thai is valuable and respectful. Foreign nationals normally need an employer-sponsored Non-Immigrant B visa and work permit before legally working; the employer usually assists with documentation. Thai nationals should prepare identification, education records and employment references. Relocation costs, housing, transport and visa fees should be clarified in the contract. Phuket has an international airport, modern shopping and healthcare, but living costs are higher in tourist areas. Naka Island employees should also consider boat transfers, seasonal weather and limited island services.
