About the employer

Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provides acute hospital services across Gloucestershire, primarily through Gloucestershire Royal Hospital in Gloucester and Cheltenham General Hospital. The Trust supports a broad local population through emergency care, planned surgery, maternity, cancer services, diagnostics, specialist medicine and outpatient treatment. Its operating theatres and perioperative teams work closely with surgeons, anaesthetists, nurses, ODPs and other healthcare professionals to provide safe and effective surgical care. As an NHS employer, the Trust generally offers structured pay progression, pension membership, annual leave, occupational health support and access to professional development. Employees are expected to uphold NHS values, including compassion, respect, teamwork and a commitment to improving patient outcomes. The organisation also supports education and career development for registered nurses and allied health professionals.

Working in United Kingdom

The United Kingdom offers substantial opportunities for registered nurses and ODPs, particularly within the NHS, private hospitals and community services. Healthcare is a respected profession, and workplaces are generally multicultural, team-based and governed by clear clinical standards. Lifestyle varies from busy cities to quieter rural areas, with good public transport, historic towns, coastlines and national parks. Living costs are highest in London and the southeast; Gloucestershire is generally more moderate, although housing costs vary. Overseas nurses need registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council, while ODPs normally require Health and Care Professions Council registration. Most non-UK healthcare professionals need employer sponsorship under the Health and Care Worker visa, subject to eligibility and English-language requirements. Candidates should budget for accommodation, transport, visa costs and initial settling expenses, and check current immigration and registration rules before relocating.
