The Community Staff Nurse provides safe, compassionate nursing care to patients in their homes and community settings. Requirements usually include current NMC registration, relevant nursing experience, strong clinical assessment and care-planning skills, and the ability to work independently. A valid driving licence and access to a vehicle may be required, depending on the service. The successful candidate should communicate effectively with patients, families and multidisciplinary colleagues, maintain accurate records, manage a varied caseload, and follow safeguarding, infection-control and medicines-management procedures. Flexibility, resilience, sound clinical judgement and a commitment to person-centred care are expected.

About the employer

Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust provides mental health, community, learning-disability, children’s and specialist services across parts of the English Midlands. Its teams work in hospitals, clinics, community facilities and patients’ homes, supporting people throughout different stages of life. The Trust employs a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professionals and works closely with local authorities, GPs, social-care providers and voluntary organisations. Community nursing is an important part of its services, helping patients manage long-term conditions, recover after illness, receive end-of-life care and avoid unnecessary hospital admission. As an NHS employer, the Trust generally offers structured pay bands, occupational benefits, professional development and access to NHS pension arrangements, subject to eligibility and the terms of the specific vacancy.

Working in United Kingdom

The United Kingdom offers substantial opportunities for registered nurses, particularly in community care, mental health, elderly care and specialist services. NHS and independent employers value NMC registration, practical experience and strong communication skills. Life varies from busy, multicultural cities to quieter market towns and rural communities. Public transport is generally good, although community nurses may need a driving licence and car. Housing and living costs are highest in London and parts of southern England; many Midlands locations are more affordable. Overseas nurses normally need NMC registration, English-language evidence and a job offer from an approved sponsor. Eligible nurses may apply for a Health and Care Worker visa, which can allow dependants to accompany them. Candidates should check current visa, registration, salary and sponsorship rules before relocating.
