The Senior Rehab Assistant supports registered therapists and clinical teams in delivering rehabilitation programmes to patients in hospital or community settings. Duties may include assisting with mobility, exercise, personal care, functional activities, observations, record keeping and patient education, while promoting independence and dignity. Applicants are generally expected to have experience in a healthcare, rehabilitation or social-care environment, good communication skills, basic literacy and numeracy, and the ability to work safely with patients who may have physical, neurological or mental-health needs. The role requires teamwork, flexibility, emotional resilience, confidentiality and accurate documentation. Relevant NHS or care qualifications and experience supervising or supporting junior colleagues may be advantageous.
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust provides NHS mental-health, learning-disability, community and related healthcare services across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. Its teams work in hospitals, community clinics, patients’ homes and specialist settings, supporting people across different stages of life. The Trust brings together clinical, rehabilitation, nursing, therapy, medical and corporate professionals to provide safe, person-centred care. Employees are usually supported through NHS benefits, occupational pension arrangements, annual leave, training and structured development opportunities. The organisation places importance on inclusion, safeguarding, partnership working and helping patients achieve greater independence. Depending on the service, staff may work across urban, rural and island locations, so travel flexibility and collaboration with families, social-care providers and other NHS services can be important.
The United Kingdom offers opportunities in healthcare, technology, engineering, education, finance, hospitality and public services. NHS roles are found throughout England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, including island communities such as the Isle of Wight. British culture is diverse, with strong local traditions, historic towns, countryside, music, sport and a generally respectful workplace culture. Lifestyle varies from busy cities to quieter coastal and rural areas; living costs are highest in London and some southern regions, while island accommodation and transport may require extra planning. Most overseas workers need a visa, commonly the Health and Care Worker visa for eligible NHS occupations, with an approved sponsor and certificate of sponsorship. Check occupation codes, salary thresholds, English-language rules and dependants’ requirements before applying. Relocating staff should budget for deposits, transport, NHS registration requirements and possible ferry or limited public-transport costs on island locations.
