The Hepatology Clinical Nurse Specialist will provide expert nursing care and advice to patients with liver disease, supporting assessment, treatment, education and ongoing care coordination. The role is likely to involve working with consultants and the wider multidisciplinary team, managing nurse-led clinics, monitoring patient progress, promoting self-management and contributing to service improvement. Candidates should be registered nurses with current UK NMC registration, substantial clinical experience and a strong understanding of hepatology or gastroenterology. Experience in specialist nursing, patient education, safeguarding, audit and multidisciplinary working is expected. The successful applicant should demonstrate sound clinical judgement, excellent communication, compassion, organisation and the ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a busy NHS service.
The Hillingdon Hospital NHS Foundation Trust provides acute and specialist healthcare services to residents of Hillingdon, west London, and surrounding communities. Its services include emergency care, medical and surgical treatment, maternity, outpatient services and specialist clinical pathways such as hepatology. The Trust works closely with local health and social care partners to support integrated care and improve patient outcomes. It is also associated with Mount Vernon Hospital, which provides additional specialist services. As an NHS employer, the Trust offers structured professional development, access to the NHS pension scheme, annual leave and opportunities to work within multidisciplinary teams. Staff are expected to uphold NHS values, including compassion, respect, commitment to quality, improving lives and working together for patients.
The United Kingdom offers strong opportunities for registered nurses and clinical specialists, particularly within the NHS, private hospitals, community services and research organisations. Healthcare culture is patient-centred, multidisciplinary and guided by professional standards, safeguarding and evidence-based practice. Major cities provide diverse communities, transport links, universities and extensive cultural activities, while living costs are generally higher in London and the southeast than in other regions. Nurses relocating from overseas normally need registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council and may require an approved English-language assessment and overseas qualification process. Eligible NHS roles may qualify for the Health and Care Worker visa, which requires sponsorship from an approved employer. Applicants should check current Home Office and NMC rules, budget for housing and relocation costs, and arrange documentation, accommodation and healthcare registration before travelling.
