Working in United Kingdom

The United Kingdom offers strong opportunities in healthcare, technology, engineering, education, finance and hospitality, with the NHS being one of the largest employers. British culture is diverse and generally values punctuality, personal space, politeness and professional communication. Lifestyle varies from busy cities to quieter rural communities, with good public transport, historic towns, coastal areas and extensive countryside. Living costs are highest in London and the South East, including Surrey, while other regions can be more affordable. Overseas healthcare professionals usually need an appropriate visa, commonly the Health and Care Worker visa, employer sponsorship, NMC registration and evidence of English-language ability. Nurses may need qualification assessment and a registration examination. Before relocating, check visa rules, registration requirements, accommodation costs, taxation and NHS employment conditions. The UK has four constituent nations—England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland—each offering different local cultures and scenery.
