Typical responsibilities include assessing patient needs, planning and evaluating care, administering medicines, maintaining accurate records, supporting recovery, managing risk and responding appropriately to changing clinical conditions. Applicants should hold current NMC registration as a Registered Mental Health Nurse or relevant registered nurse, demonstrate sound clinical knowledge and communication skills, and be able to work collaboratively in a demanding inpatient environment. The successful candidate is expected to uphold professional standards, safeguarding requirements, confidentiality, equality and dignity, while participating in supervision, training and continuous service improvement. Shift work, including nights, weekends and public holidays, may be required.
Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust provides NHS mental health, learning disability and specialist services across Surrey and parts of North East Hampshire. The Trust supports children, young people, adults and older people through hospitals, community teams, crisis services and specialist programmes. Its services focus on recovery, prevention, patient safety and partnership with families, carers, local authorities and other healthcare organisations. The Trust employs a broad workforce including nurses, doctors, therapists, psychologists, support workers and corporate professionals. As an NHS foundation trust, it is committed to quality improvement, inclusion, safeguarding and treating people with compassion and respect. Brook House is one of its care settings, where staff contribute to structured, multidisciplinary support for people requiring specialist mental health care.
The United Kingdom offers strong opportunities for registered nurses, particularly in the NHS, mental health, community care and specialist services. Nursing is a respected profession, and workplaces are generally multicultural, team-based and guided by clear professional standards. Lifestyle varies from busy cities to quieter countryside, with reliable public services, historic towns and extensive rail and bus networks. Housing and transport costs are highest in London and the South East, including areas near Surrey. Overseas nurses normally need NMC registration, proof of English proficiency and a job offer from an approved sponsor. The Health and Care Worker visa can provide a faster, lower-cost route than many other work visas, with eligible dependants able to accompany the worker. Candidates should budget for deposits, accommodation, registration costs and initial living expenses before relocating.
