About the employer

Sheraton Samui Resort is an upscale beachfront resort on Koh Samui, Thailand, operated under the Sheraton brand, part of Marriott International. The property combines contemporary resort facilities with access to the island’s beaches, natural attractions and leisure activities. Its operations typically include accommodation, restaurants and bars, banquet and event services, pools, fitness and wellness facilities, and guest activities. Sheraton hotels are known for welcoming communal spaces, international service standards and a focus on connecting guests with the destination. As part of Marriott International, the resort benefits from global operating procedures, training resources, career mobility and brand-wide expectations covering guest satisfaction, safety, sustainability and financial performance. The Executive Chef works closely with hotel leadership and department heads to deliver a consistent culinary experience while supporting the resort’s commercial goals and local market identity.

Working in Thailand

Koh Samui offers hospitality opportunities in resorts, restaurants, wellness retreats, tourism services, events, marine activities and property management. Executive-level culinary roles are particularly available during busy tourism periods, although competition is strong and Thai language skills can help with local teams and suppliers. Island life is relaxed and outdoor-focused, with beaches, temples, markets, diving, boating and a lively international community. Costs vary by area; accommodation near major beaches is more expensive than inland locations. Foreign nationals generally need a Thai employer to sponsor the correct Non-Immigrant B visa and work permit before starting employment. Employers may assist with documentation, accommodation, flights, meals or service charge, but these benefits should be confirmed in writing. Healthcare, banking and daily services are readily available in developed areas, while transport is commonly by motorbike or car. New arrivals should check visa rules, insurance, housing and seasonal weather before relocating.
