About the employer

Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust provides acute and specialist healthcare services to Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. Its principal site is Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro, supported by West Cornwall Hospital in Penzance and St Michael’s Hospital in Hayle. The Trust delivers emergency, inpatient, outpatient, surgical, diagnostic and specialist services to local communities, visitors and seasonal residents. As a major NHS employer in Cornwall, it supports clinical education, professional development, research and service innovation. The organisation works closely with community services, primary care, universities and regional partners to improve access and patient outcomes. Cornwall offers consultants the opportunity to work in a distinctive coastal setting while contributing to services that are important to geographically dispersed communities.

Working in United Kingdom

The United Kingdom is an island nation with strong employment opportunities in healthcare, technology, finance, education, engineering and public services. NHS roles are available across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, although registration and employment rules can vary slightly. British culture is generally diverse, polite and community-minded, with excellent access to museums, music, sport and historic sites. Lifestyle ranges from busy cities to quieter coastal and rural areas; Cornwall is known for beaches, outdoor activities and a slower pace of life, though housing can be competitive. International doctors usually need GMC registration and may require a Health and Care Worker visa, often sponsored by the NHS employer. Candidates should budget for visa fees, relocation, deposits and transport, and check eligibility, dependants’ rights, tax, healthcare and professional registration requirements before moving.
