The Community Forensic Mental Health Nurse provides specialist assessment, care planning, risk management and ongoing support for people with complex mental health needs who are involved with, or at risk of involvement with, forensic services. Requirements typically include current NMC registration as a Registered Mental Health Nurse, relevant post-registration experience, knowledge of the Mental Health Act and safeguarding, strong risk-assessment skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively. A full UK driving licence may be required because of community visits. The successful candidate is expected to deliver recovery-focused, trauma-informed care, maintain accurate records, communicate effectively with patients and partner agencies, manage competing priorities, and contribute to multidisciplinary clinical decisions.
Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust provides mental health, learning disability, community and adult social care services across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. The Trust supports people from community settings through to specialist inpatient and secure services, working with patients, families, carers, local authorities and other healthcare organisations. Its services include community mental health, older adult care, rehabilitation, forensic mental health, crisis support and physical healthcare delivered in community locations. The Trust promotes recovery, independence, compassionate care and partnership working. Employees typically work across a geographically dispersed county, including rural and coastal communities, and may have opportunities for professional development, clinical supervision and multidisciplinary practice. As an NHS employer, it generally offers nationally structured pay, pension, annual leave and access to NHS learning and wellbeing benefits.
The United Kingdom is an island nation comprising England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, with varied cities, rural areas and coastal communities. Nursing and mental health roles are widely available in NHS trusts, private providers, care homes and community services, although recruitment and registration requirements apply. British culture is diverse and generally values privacy, punctuality, inclusion and work-life balance. Cornwall offers a slower coastal lifestyle, attractive scenery and outdoor activities, but housing and transport can be challenging in popular areas. Overseas nurses usually need a job offer, employer sponsorship where required, and registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council, including qualification, English-language and identity checks. Visa rules depend on nationality and role; the Health and Care Worker visa may be relevant for eligible sponsored positions. Research accommodation, transport, healthcare registration, taxes and living costs before relocating.
