Working in Singapore

Singapore is a compact, highly connected city-state with opportunities across hospitality, finance, technology, retail, healthcare and professional services. Its multicultural society blends Chinese, Malay, Indian and international influences, with English widely used at work and in daily life. The lifestyle is safe, efficient and urban, offering excellent public transport, diverse food, shopping, parks and easy regional travel. Housing can be expensive, particularly in central areas, so newcomers often compare shared accommodation with private apartments before relocating. Foreign employees generally need an employer-sponsored work pass; managers may qualify for an Employment Pass, subject to current salary, qualification and eligibility requirements. Employers usually guide candidates through the application process, but approval is controlled by Singapore’s Ministry of Manpower. Before moving, arrange suitable accommodation, health insurance, banking access and document verification, and confirm tax and employment conditions in writing.
