Working in Indonesia

Indonesia is an archipelago, and this position is based on Java, on the island’s busy capital, Jakarta. Hospitality opportunities are strongest in Jakarta, Bali, Lombok, Batam, and major resort destinations, with roles available in hotels, restaurants, villas, and events. Indonesian culture values warmth, respect, community, and religious diversity; learning basic Bahasa Indonesia is highly useful. Jakarta offers extensive dining, shopping, nightlife, and international connections, but also heavy traffic, humidity, and a fast-paced lifestyle. Housing and transport costs vary considerably, while Bali generally has a more relaxed, tourism-focused atmosphere but can be expensive in popular areas. Foreign nationals normally need an employer-sponsored work permit and KITAS; working on a tourist visa is not permitted. Confirm sponsorship, medical requirements, contract benefits, accommodation, taxes, and relocation assistance before accepting an offer. Indonesia’s tropical climate, welcoming communities, and varied food culture can make relocation rewarding.
