About the employer

Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust provides acute and specialist healthcare services across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. Its main sites include Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro, West Cornwall Hospital in Penzance and St Michael’s Hospital near Hayle, supported by community services and specialist clinical networks. The Trust serves a large and geographically dispersed population, with demand influenced by seasonal tourism and rural travel distances. It offers a broad range of medical, surgical, emergency, cancer, maternity and specialist services, working closely with local healthcare partners. The organisation promotes compassionate care, clinical excellence, education and continuous improvement. Cornwall provides consultants with opportunities to develop services in a distinctive coastal setting while contributing to a close-knit regional healthcare system.

Working in United Kingdom

The United Kingdom offers extensive opportunities for doctors, nurses, scientists, technology professionals and other skilled workers, with the NHS being one of the largest employers. British culture combines historic communities, diverse cities, coastal towns and strong traditions in sport, music and the arts. Lifestyle varies considerably: London and major cities are fast-paced and internationally connected, while Cornwall offers beaches, outdoor activities, a slower pace and relatively longer travel distances. International healthcare professionals generally need GMC registration, primary-source verification, English-language evidence and an appropriate UK visa. Many sponsored roles use the Health and Care Worker visa, which can provide reduced fees and exemption from the immigration health surcharge. Relocation planning should cover accommodation, registration, transport, tax, banking and school arrangements. Cornwall has good community connections, but housing availability and commuting should be researched carefully before moving.
