About the employer

Isle of Wight NHS Trust is the main provider of acute, community, mental health and ambulance services on the Isle of Wight. The Trust serves a resident population of around 140,000, which increases significantly during the tourist season. Its services include St Mary’s Hospital in Newport, community hospitals, mental health facilities, ambulance operations and a broad network of community and specialist services. As an integrated NHS organisation, it works closely with local primary care providers, councils, social care partners and other healthcare organisations to improve outcomes for island residents. Working for the Trust offers the opportunity to contribute to public healthcare in a distinctive island setting, where teams often collaborate closely and staff can see the direct impact of their work on the local community.

Working in United Kingdom

The Isle of Wight is a compact island off England’s south coast, reached by ferry from Portsmouth, Lymington or Southampton. Employment is concentrated in healthcare, social care, tourism, hospitality, education, public services, marine industries, retail and small businesses; specialist roles may offer fewer opportunities than on the mainland. The island has a relaxed, community-oriented culture, attractive beaches, coastal walks, sailing and countryside. Newport is the administrative centre, while Ryde, Cowes, Shanklin and Sandown are popular places to live. Housing and transport costs vary, and commuting depends on ferry services, so checking travel requirements is important. UK and Irish citizens can work without a visa. Other nationals normally need a suitable UK work visa, such as the Skilled Worker route, with an eligible employer and occupation. Candidates should confirm sponsorship, registration and right-to-work requirements before relocating.
