About the employer

Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust provides acute, specialist and community healthcare services to residents and visitors across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. Its main facilities include the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro, West Cornwall Hospital in Penzance and St Michael’s Hospital in Hayle. The Trust delivers emergency care, surgery, medicine, maternity, cancer services and a broad range of specialist clinical services, including gastroenterology. As a major regional employer and teaching organisation, it works with universities and local healthcare partners to improve patient outcomes and develop the workforce. Cornwall offers a distinctive setting, combining a substantial NHS service with coastal communities, rural areas and a strong tourism economy. Staff typically benefit from NHS pension arrangements, annual leave, professional development opportunities and access to national NHS employment policies.

Working in United Kingdom

The United Kingdom is an island nation with extensive opportunities in healthcare, technology, education, finance, engineering and public services. Its culture combines historic traditions with diverse, multicultural communities, while lifestyles range from busy metropolitan living to quieter coastal and rural areas. Cornwall is known for beaches, outdoor activities, a relaxed pace and comparatively smaller towns, although housing and transport can vary by location. The NHS is one of the UK’s largest employers and regularly recruits internationally trained doctors and other professionals. Most overseas workers need a Health and Care Worker visa or another eligible work route, normally requiring a sponsored job, relevant qualifications, English-language evidence and professional registration. Doctors must meet General Medical Council requirements before practising. Relocating applicants should budget for accommodation, visa costs, transport and initial living expenses, and check current immigration, registration and taxation rules before moving.
