Working in Maldives

The Maldives offers hospitality opportunities in resorts, hotels, restaurants, guesthouses, diving centers, spas and marine-tourism businesses. Resort life is international and close-knit, with employees commonly living on the property and working rotational shifts. Local culture is shaped by Islam, island traditions, seafood-based cuisine and strong community values; modest dress and respectful behavior are expected outside resort areas. Lifestyle on a private resort island is scenic but relatively remote, with limited shopping and nightlife compared with major cities. Foreign workers generally need an employer-sponsored Employment Approval and work visa, with the employer handling much of the application process. Before relocating, confirm contract terms, salary, service charge, accommodation, meals, medical coverage, leave, flights and internet access. Malé is the main arrival and administrative hub, and onward travel to the resort is usually by speedboat or seaplane.
