Working in Qatar

Qatar is a compact peninsula rather than an island, offering strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, aviation, construction, retail, healthcare, education and technology. Doha is the main employment center, with modern infrastructure, international schools, shopping malls, beaches and a growing arts and dining scene. The culture combines Islamic traditions with a large expatriate community; modest dress, respectful behavior and awareness of Ramadan customs are important. Lifestyle is generally safe and convenient, although summers are extremely hot and outdoor activity is limited during the day. Most foreign employees need employer-sponsored work and residence visas. Employers commonly arrange medical checks, contracts and residence processing after arrival. Before relocating, confirm salary, accommodation, transport, insurance, annual leave, probation terms and airfare in writing. A passport, authenticated qualifications and police clearance may be requested. Public transport is improving, while taxis and ride-hailing services are widely available.
