Working in Malaysia

Malaysia is a multicultural country rather than one single island, offering opportunities in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Johor and other tourism centres. Hospitality jobs are available in hotels, resorts, restaurants, bakeries, events and food production, with Kuala Lumpur providing the broadest year-round employment market. Local culture blends Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous traditions, and English is commonly used in hotels and business settings. Malaysia offers affordable food, modern shopping, tropical weather and convenient public transport, although traffic and humidity can be challenging. Foreign employees generally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass or other appropriate work authorisation; working before approval is not permitted. Employers usually guide applicants through immigration and relocation procedures. Candidates should confirm salary, accommodation, medical coverage, working hours and visa sponsorship before accepting an offer.
