This internship supports the Front Office team at Sheraton Imperial Kuala Lumpur Hotel. Typical duties include assisting with guest check-in and check-out, handling enquiries, reservations and requests, coordinating with other departments, updating hotel systems, and maintaining professional service standards. Candidates are generally expected to be enrolled in or recently completing a hospitality, tourism, business or related programme. Good communication skills, a friendly attitude, basic computer ability, professional appearance, reliability and willingness to work shifts, weekends and public holidays are important. Fluency in English is usually required; knowledge of Malay or other languages is an advantage. The successful intern should be eager to learn, customer-focused and comfortable working in a busy international hotel environment.
Marriott International is one of the world’s largest hospitality companies, operating a broad portfolio of hotels and resorts across many countries. Its brands include Sheraton, Marriott Hotels, Westin, W Hotels, Ritz-Carlton and others, serving business and leisure travellers. Sheraton Imperial Kuala Lumpur Hotel is a full-service luxury hotel in central Kuala Lumpur, offering guest rooms, restaurants, meeting facilities, leisure amenities and business services. The hotel is part of Marriott’s global network and follows established standards for guest service, safety, training and professional development. An internship there can provide practical exposure to front-office operations, hotel technology, guest relations and coordination between departments. Conditions, benefits and allowance levels may vary according to the internship agreement, academic institution and hotel policy.
Malaysia is not one island but a multicultural country with opportunities across Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Sabah and Sarawak. Hospitality, tourism, food and beverage, retail, technology, finance and healthcare provide employment for local and international candidates. Kuala Lumpur offers modern city living, public transport, shopping and diverse food, while island destinations provide a slower lifestyle, beaches and resort-based work. Malay, Chinese, Indian and Indigenous traditions shape the culture, with English widely used in hotels and business. Living costs are moderate compared with many major Asian cities, though central Kuala Lumpur is more expensive. Foreign interns and employees normally need an appropriate pass or work authorisation arranged with the sponsoring employer; requirements depend on nationality, programme and duration. Confirm immigration rules, accommodation, insurance and employer sponsorship before relocating.
