About the employer

Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is one of the largest acute hospital trusts in the United Kingdom and provides specialist, general and community-based healthcare across Leeds and the wider Yorkshire region. Its main hospitals include Leeds General Infirmary and St James’s University Hospital, alongside several specialist and outpatient facilities. The Trust delivers services ranging from emergency and inpatient care to cancer treatment, maternity, transplantation and highly specialised medicine. As a teaching and research organisation linked closely with the University of Leeds, it offers extensive professional development, education and clinical research opportunities. Employees work in a diverse, busy environment focused on safe, inclusive and patient-centred care. The Trust supports NHS values, multidisciplinary teamwork and ongoing improvement in clinical services.

Working in United Kingdom

The United Kingdom offers substantial opportunities for registered nurses, particularly in NHS hospitals, care homes, mental health, community services and private healthcare. Its culture is diverse and generally values punctuality, professionalism, privacy and respectful communication. Leeds provides a lively, affordable alternative to London, with strong transport links, universities, parks, shopping and varied international communities. Lifestyle costs vary, with housing usually cheaper outside major southern cities. Overseas nurses normally need an NMC registration, English-language evidence and a suitable employment offer. Eligible professionals may apply for a Health and Care Worker visa, which permits work with an approved sponsor and can offer a route to settlement. Applicants should check current UK immigration rules, registration requirements, salary thresholds and dependent-visa conditions before relocating. The UK climate is changeable, and settling in requires planning for accommodation, banking, taxation and NHS access.
