Working in United Kingdom

The United Kingdom offers substantial opportunities for registered nurses, particularly in the NHS, mental health, community care and private healthcare. Nursing is a respected profession, and workplaces are generally multicultural, team-based and guided by professional standards. Lifestyle varies from busy cities to quieter countryside, with good public transport, historic towns, cultural events and extensive outdoor activities. Housing and living costs are highest in London and the South East, including Surrey. Overseas nurses usually need an NMC registration, English-language evidence and, where applicable, a Certificate of Sponsorship from an approved employer. The Skilled Worker visa is commonly used and may allow eligible dependants to accompany the worker. Before relocating, candidates should budget for accommodation, immigration fees, transport and registration costs, and check current NHS pay, visa and NMC requirements.
