The Sister/Charge Nurse provides senior clinical leadership across wards L31, L32 and L33, ensuring safe, effective and compassionate patient care. Requirements typically include current NMC registration, relevant post-registration nursing experience, evidence of leadership or supervisory responsibility, and knowledge of NHS standards, safeguarding, infection prevention and clinical governance. The successful candidate is expected to coordinate daily ward activity, manage staffing and resources, support and develop colleagues, maintain accurate records, respond to changing patient needs and work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team. Strong communication, decision-making, organisational and problem-solving skills are essential, together with a commitment to equality, patient dignity, continuous improvement and the values of Leeds Teaching Hospitals.
Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is one of the largest and busiest NHS trusts in the United Kingdom. It provides a wide range of specialist and general healthcare services to patients across Leeds, West Yorkshire and beyond. The Trust operates major hospitals including Leeds General Infirmary, St James’s University Hospital, Chapel Allerton Hospital and Seacroft Hospital. It is also a leading teaching and research organisation, working closely with the University of Leeds and other academic partners. The Trust employs a large multidisciplinary workforce and offers opportunities in clinical care, education, research and healthcare leadership. Its priorities include delivering safe, high-quality, patient-centred services, reducing health inequalities, supporting staff wellbeing and improving outcomes through innovation and partnership working.
The United Kingdom offers substantial opportunities in nursing, healthcare, technology, finance, engineering and education, with major employment centres in London, Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Cardiff. UK culture is diverse and generally values politeness, punctuality, personal responsibility and work-life balance. Lifestyle varies from busy urban living to quieter rural and coastal communities, with strong public transport in larger cities. International nurses usually need an eligible qualification, English-language evidence, NMC registration and a Health and Care Worker visa sponsored by an approved employer. The visa can provide a route for eligible dependants and eventual settlement, subject to current rules. Before relocating, candidates should budget for rent, transport, council tax, utilities and visa-related costs. Leeds offers comparatively strong healthcare employment, universities, cultural venues and access to Yorkshire countryside.
