Working in Qatar

Qatar is a peninsula rather than an island, with Doha as its main employment and lifestyle hub. Hospitality opportunities are available in luxury hotels, restaurants, resorts, airlines, events and tourism, especially for candidates with international experience and strong English skills. The culture blends Islamic traditions with a highly international expatriate community; modest dress and respect for local customs are important. Doha offers modern malls, beaches, museums, desert excursions and an increasingly active dining and sports scene. Summers are extremely hot, while winters are comfortable. Employers commonly sponsor work visas and residence permits, arrange medical checks and may provide accommodation, transport, meals or flights, but packages vary. Candidates should confirm contract terms, probation, benefits and accommodation before relocating. Qatar has no personal income tax on most employment earnings, although living costs, particularly rent, can be high.
