Working in Qatar

Qatar is a peninsula rather than an island, with Doha as its main employment and lifestyle hub. Hospitality opportunities are available in luxury resorts, international hotels, restaurants, catering companies, airlines and event venues, especially for chefs, service staff, housekeeping and wellness professionals. The culture combines Islamic traditions, Arabic hospitality and a large international workforce. Qatar offers modern malls, beaches, museums, desert excursions and an active dining scene, although summers are extremely hot. Most overseas employees require an employer-sponsored work visa and residence permit; the employer normally manages the application, medical checks and related formalities. Before relocating, confirm the contract, accommodation, meals, transport, insurance, working hours, leave and return-ticket benefits. Doha is generally safe and well connected, but living costs can be high without employer support. Respectful dress and local customs are important, particularly during Ramadan.
