The Hepatology Clinical Nurse Specialist will provide expert, patient-centred care to people with liver disease across inpatient and outpatient settings. Responsibilities are likely to include clinical assessment, care planning, patient education, symptom management, coordination with gastroenterology and hepatology teams, safeguarding, audit, and support for service development. Candidates should be registered nurses with current NMC registration, substantial relevant clinical experience, and strong knowledge of hepatology or gastroenterology. The role requires excellent communication, organisation, clinical judgement, and the ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a multidisciplinary team. Experience in specialist nursing, leadership, teaching, quality improvement, and managing complex patients is desirable. A commitment to equality, confidentiality, evidence-based practice, and the values of the NHS Trust will be expected.
The Hillingdon Hospital NHS Foundation Trust provides acute and specialist healthcare services to residents of Hillingdon and surrounding areas in west London. Its services include emergency care, medicine, surgery, maternity, paediatrics, diagnostics, and specialist clinical services such as gastroenterology and hepatology. The Trust works closely with local healthcare partners and community services to support joined-up care. As an NHS employer, it offers structured pay, pension benefits, annual leave, professional development, and access to learning and training opportunities. Staff are expected to promote compassionate care, patient safety, inclusion, teamwork, and continuous improvement. Hillingdon Hospital serves a diverse community and is located within convenient reach of Heathrow, central London, and surrounding counties. The organisation regularly employs nurses, doctors, allied health professionals, administrators, technical specialists, and support staff.
The United Kingdom offers strong opportunities in healthcare, technology, engineering, finance, education, and skilled trades. NHS roles are widely available, although professional registration and relevant experience are normally required. UK culture is diverse and generally polite, with a strong emphasis on punctuality, personal privacy, and work-life balance. Lifestyle choices range from busy city living to quieter coastal and countryside communities, though housing and transport can be expensive in London and the southeast. International healthcare professionals may need registration with the appropriate UK regulator, such as the NMC for nurses, and an employer willing to provide sponsorship. The Health and Care Worker visa can be available for eligible NHS positions and usually offers a faster route than many other work visas. Applicants should check sponsorship, English-language, qualification, and immigration requirements before relocating. Healthcare, accommodation, transport, and living costs should be planned carefully.
