The Staff Nurse will provide safe, compassionate and person-centred nursing care to patients at Brook House, supporting assessment, care planning, medication administration, risk management and recovery-focused treatment. Applicants should hold current NMC registration, demonstrate sound clinical knowledge and ideally have experience in mental health or inpatient nursing, although relevant transferable experience may be considered. The role requires strong communication, teamwork, accurate record-keeping and an understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality and professional standards. Candidates are expected to work effectively with patients, relatives and the wider multidisciplinary team, remain calm in challenging situations and participate in day, night, weekend and bank-holiday shifts. Commitment to continuous learning and the values of the NHS and Surrey and Borders Partnership is essential.
Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust provides specialist and community mental health, learning disability, drug and alcohol, and social care services across Surrey and parts of north-east Hampshire. The Trust supports people of all ages through hospitals, community teams, rehabilitation services and specialist facilities, working closely with patients, families, local authorities and other healthcare organisations. Its services focus on recovery, safety, inclusion and improving quality of life. Brook House is part of the Trust’s inpatient and specialist care provision, where nurses work alongside psychiatrists, psychologists, occupational therapists, support workers and other professionals. As an NHS Foundation Trust, it offers structured career development, pension arrangements, training and opportunities to progress through clinical and leadership pathways.
The United Kingdom offers strong opportunities for registered nurses, particularly in the NHS, mental health, elderly care, community services and private healthcare. Nursing is a respected profession, with clear pay bands, professional development and defined routes to senior roles. British culture is generally diverse and multicultural, with a strong emphasis on punctuality, privacy, teamwork and professional accountability. Lifestyle varies from busy cities to quieter towns and countryside; public transport is widely available, although housing costs can be high in and around London and the South East. International nurses normally need NMC registration, evidence of English proficiency and, where applicable, a suitable job offer for a Health and Care Worker visa. Employers may provide sponsorship and relocation guidance. New arrivals should budget for accommodation, transport, registration fees and initial living costs before receiving their first salary.
