The Sister/Charge Nurse provides clinical leadership and manages the day-to-day delivery of safe, effective nursing care across the designated L31, L32 and L33 areas. The role requires current NMC registration as an adult nurse, substantial post-registration experience, and evidence of effective clinical leadership, staff supervision and patient-care coordination. The successful candidate should be confident managing complex situations, allocating staff, supporting junior colleagues, maintaining accurate records and promoting high standards of infection prevention, safeguarding and patient safety. Strong communication, decision-making, organisation and multidisciplinary-working skills are expected. Experience in the relevant clinical specialty and knowledge of NHS policies, governance and quality-improvement processes would be advantageous.
Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is one of the largest and most diverse NHS trusts in England, providing hospital and community services to patients across Leeds, Yorkshire and beyond. Its services include emergency and planned care, maternity, children’s services, specialist surgery, cancer care, transplantation and a wide range of clinical specialties. The Trust operates major hospitals including Leeds General Infirmary, St James’s University Hospital, Leeds Children’s Hospital and Leeds Cancer Centre. As a teaching and research organisation, it works closely with the University of Leeds and other education partners to train healthcare professionals and improve treatment through innovation and research. The Trust employs a large multidisciplinary workforce and promotes patient-centred care, equality, professional development, teamwork and continuous quality improvement.
The United Kingdom offers extensive opportunities for registered nurses, particularly within the NHS, private hospitals, care providers and specialist services. The culture is diverse and generally values professionalism, punctuality, privacy and inclusive teamwork. Leeds provides a lively, affordable alternative to London, with strong transport links, universities, shopping, music and access to Yorkshire’s countryside. Nurses should normally have an NMC registration or an eligible route to registration, English-language evidence where required, and an appropriate job offer. Overseas applicants may qualify for a Skilled Worker visa, usually requiring employer sponsorship, a Certificate of Sponsorship and meeting salary and eligibility rules. Relocation costs, accommodation deposits, healthcare-related checks and immigration fees should be planned carefully. NHS employers may provide guidance on registration, sponsorship and settling in, although policies and salary thresholds can change.
