About the employer

Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is one of the largest NHS hospital trusts in England and provides specialist, teaching and general healthcare services to people across Leeds, Yorkshire and beyond. Its services include major trauma, cancer care, children’s services, maternity, surgery, medical specialties and highly specialised treatments. The Trust works closely with the University of Leeds and other education and research partners, supporting clinical training, innovation and professional development. It employs a large multidisciplinary workforce across several hospital sites, including Leeds General Infirmary and St James’s University Hospital. The organisation promotes compassionate care, patient safety, inclusion and continuous improvement. Nursing staff can benefit from structured development, NHS pension and annual leave arrangements, occupational health support and opportunities to progress into advanced clinical, educational or managerial roles.

Working in United Kingdom

The United Kingdom offers substantial opportunities for registered nurses, particularly in NHS hospitals, care homes, community services and private healthcare. Leeds is a diverse, relatively affordable English city with excellent transport, universities, shopping, music, sport and access to the Yorkshire countryside. British workplace culture generally values punctuality, teamwork, professional accountability, respectful communication and individual patient involvement. Nurses must obtain registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), including qualification, English-language and identity checks. Overseas nurses may need a computer-based test and Objective Structured Clinical Examination. Eligible NHS roles can qualify for the Health and Care Worker visa, usually requiring a sponsored job offer, an approved employer and the required salary. This visa generally has reduced fees and no immigration health surcharge. Applicants should budget for accommodation, transport and initial relocation costs, and check current immigration rules before travelling.
