Working in Singapore

Singapore is a compact, well-connected island city-state with strong opportunities in aviation, logistics, finance, technology, healthcare, hospitality, and professional services. Its multicultural society blends Chinese, Malay, Indian, and international influences, reflected in languages, festivals, food, and neighbourhoods. Daily life is convenient and generally safe, with excellent public transport, healthcare, digital services, and shopping. Housing can be expensive, particularly near the city centre, while public-housing rooms and outer-area apartments are more affordable. The climate is hot, humid, and tropical throughout the year, with frequent rain. Foreign professionals normally need an employment pass or another valid work pass sponsored or supported by their employer; eligibility depends on salary, qualifications, experience, and government assessment. New arrivals should budget for rent, transport, deposits, insurance, and settling-in costs. Changi Airport provides global connectivity, while beaches, parks, hawker centres, cultural districts, and nearby Southeast Asian destinations support a varied lifestyle.
