Working in Spain Islands

Spain’s main employment islands include Mallorca, Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Ibiza and Lanzarote. Opportunities are strongest in tourism, hospitality, logistics, transport, aviation, retail, healthcare, construction and shared business services; finance roles are more concentrated in Palma, Las Palmas, Santa Cruz de Tenerife and major logistics hubs. Island culture combines Spanish traditions with relaxed coastal lifestyles, outdoor activities and strong local communities, although tourist areas can be seasonal and international. Living costs, particularly rent, may be high in Palma and Ibiza. EU and EEA citizens can work without a visa but must register and obtain a NIE and social-security number. Non-EU applicants generally need an employer-sponsored work permit before starting. Relocation planning should include housing, tax registration, healthcare, transport and language skills; Spanish is valuable even in international workplaces.
